Inter-communal clashes are also intensifying across the country, including in areas previously stable, raising fears of a full-blown conflict. Located in the heart of Africa, the Central African Republic suffers from a practically non-existent state and deeply ingrained societal divisions. The latest conflict erupted in 2013, when the Séléka, a Muslim-dominated alliance of rebel groups, took the capital Bangui. First present in Vakaga (North) and Haute-Kotto regions (East), two of the most remote areas of the country, Triangle expanded its activities to the Ouaka region (East) in 2010 and in the capital in 2011.
Through 12 projects, Triangle GH operates in the Northern and Eastern regions of CAR, including in one of the most remote areas of the country.
Triangle GH has responded to the humanitarian crisis in CAR with both short-term relief and long-term development strategies.
WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE
In 2017, Triangle GH helped over 240,000 people access clean water for drinking, hygiene as well as sanitation facilities.
To improve access to schooling, Triangle GH is building and repairing schools in the Northern and Eastern parts of the country.
In 2017, over 460,000 people received agricultural support including seeds, tools, training and the implementation of income-generating activities.
Triangle GH is working to protect street children in Bangui and is providing professional training to girls in the Vakaga.

Central African Republic In Depth
The Central African Republic (CAR) is a diverse country, made up of several different ethnic groups. The largest are: Gbaya (mostly found in the West, 33%), Banda (mostly found in the Center and East, 27%) and Mandjia (13%). Smaller ethnic groups include Sara, Mboum, M'Baka, Yakoma, Fulani and Pygmy.
The official languages of CAR are Sango and French, and most ethnic groups speak their own languages. Around 80% of the population identifies as Animist/Christian with a Muslim minority of about 15%.
